Northwest Santa Fe City Homes For Sale

Santa Fe City Northwest begins west of St. Francis Drive and includes one of the more affordable family areas – Casa Solana. With mature trees, sidewalks and paved streets, Casa Solana has a true old fashioned “neighborhood” feel. Gonzales Elementary is within walking distance, and the close-by Casa Solana commercial area boasts inviting shopping selections. The homes were built in the 1960’s by developer Allen Stamm, and are known for solid construction. Most have vigas, hardwood floors and fireplaces.

Travel farther down West Alameda, turn right, and homes begin to spread out, with larger lots and a semi-rural flavor. Some horse properties are in evidence. A variety of both older and recently-built homes appear, some sited on large open spaces. Traveling into the foothills above Santa Fe, some properties offer 360 degree vistas, while others have beautiful views of sparkling Santa Fe city lights. All left-hand turns off West Alameda take you down to the Santa Fe River.

Other subdivisions worth exploring a bit farther north in the city include Monte Sereno, a luxury community just minutes north of the Plaza, with houses and home sites offering staggering mountain views, and its neighbors, Santa Fe Estates and Sangre de Cristo Estates. For an interesting departure, check out Zocalo, a large condominium development with a decidedly contemporary feel, designed by famed architect Ricardo Legoretto.
