If you know anything about Santa Fe you know that the end of August and beginning of September is Fiestas! With so many parades, events and activities we will be your guide of what to do and what to eat all throughout Fiestas. Dating back to 1712, Fiestas de Santa Fe commemorates the reconquest of Don Diego de Vargas. Put on by the Fiesta Council every year, Fiestas is a long standing tradition. Fiestas start with the Novena masses, with a procession of La Conquistadora from The Cathedral to Rosario Chapel. Throughout the week nine masses are held. During Fiestas The Plaza is filled with tourists and locals waiting to celebrate all things Fiestas. Viva La Fiesta!
And of course we cannot forget about the food! One of the best things about Fiestas is the food. A local favorite and hugely popular item is the Navajo Taco! Filled with chile, ground beef, beans, lettuce and cheese the Navajo taco is a can't miss item. Other favorites include fried bread and corn on the cob. Food is something we all need so you might as well indulge during Fiestas because it is only once a year!
Throughout the end of August and first weeks of September there is something to do almost everyday. With so many Fiesta events happening it is hard to see them all. But we have made it a bit easier for you to navigate your way through Fiestas this year.
