Thinking about moving to or from Santa Fe, but not sure where to start? We sat down with Santa Fe Properties Relocation Director, Vicki Wafer, to learn more about relocation services from Santa Fe Properties.

What’s the first thing that people ask you about relocation services?

Everyone asks, how much do relocation services cost? Relocation services from Santa Fe Properties are a complimentary. When you're moving into a new city you want someone that isn't going to just sell you a home but they're going to help you find your place in the community, and that’s what we provide.

How do you help people moving to Santa Fe?

Everyone has interests and needs, my brokers help their clients find their place in the community. So whether they’re looking for a school, church or hiking group, they know the community and are able to act as a guide. We’re not just going to help you find a house, we're going to help you become a part of the community.

What kind of services do you provide?

In the first phone call with a client I ask about hobbies, special needs, and what they are looking for in their community. I collect information and send them a relocation package based on their needs. The next step is assigning them a broker that is a good match. From there our broker gives them tours of the city and the areas they are interested in.

Another great tool we have is a cost of living analysis. It includes things like housing, cost of goods, population demographics and education. It's pretty in depth. It helps a client decide if this is going to be a community they’ll enjoy and how it compares to other cities.

Do we have specific brokers that specialize in relocation?

We have brokers that have been trained for relocation. They have to stay in touch with me and keep me updated on how things are going with our clients. Communication is one the biggest benefits of having a relocation department. You're not just calling that broker, you also have me as a point of contact. So if the broker lets the client down or it’s not a good fit, they call me. I place a broker that is meeting their needs and is a good fit. We want our clients to be satisfied at every step in the process. I keep in contact and make sure the relocation service is the right fit for the client and effective.

Do you help people move out of Santa Fe as well?

Yes, absolutely. When someone does decide to move out of Santa Fe I can provide a broker for them in the city they are moving to. I work with other companies around the world that are just like us. It’s a valuable network that connects our companies and helps people move around the world or around the corner.

Is there anything you do to help with the actual move?

We partner with a relocation moving company called RMR. They provide 3 different moving company bids. The bids are between 55-65% off the current rate. The company manages the move from beginning to end. It’s a great resource for clients.
