This is a BIG week in Santa Fe. Not only is it the 95th burning of Zozobra, but it is also the kick off of Fiestas de Santa Fe, an over 300 year old Santa Fe Tradition bringing together people of all backgrounds to celebrate Northern New Mexican history, culture, music, food and more. From historic ceremonies and a Mariachi Extravaganza and a Pet Parade and the burning of Old Man Gloom, the week of Fiestas de Santa Fe has something for everyone.

The 95th Annual Burning of Zozobra
Where: Fort Marcy Ball Park
When: Friday, August 30th, Gates open at 4:30pm, ceremony begins at 7pm (burning scheduled for 9:33pm, weather dependent)

Started in 1924 by Will Schuster, Zozobra, also known as Old Man Gloom, has become an iconic Santa Fe Tradition. Every year a 50 foot tall marionette stuffed with the previous year’s gloom is burned to destroy the worries and troubles of the previous year. Anyone can add there gloom to be burned, handwritten notes, newspaper articles, report cards- even pink slips and divorce papers!
Fiesta Fine Arts and Crafts Market (Labor Day Weekend)
Where: Santa Fe Plaza
When: August 31st through September 2nd

An open air arts market on The Plaza, showcasing jewelry, pottery, clothing, leather, paintings, photography, wood working, hand-blown glass and much more by New Mexican artisans.
Mariachi Extravaganza
Where: Santa Fe Opera
When: Saturday, August 31st, 7:30-10pm

A sunset-lit performance of stomping feet, swirling dresses surrounded by the foothills at the Santa Fe Opera. Join award-winning artists of mariachi as they showcase traditional, contemporary and classical mariachi in absolutely stunning surroundings.
Fiesta Weekend
Where: Santa Fe Plaza
When: September 6th through the 8th
Go to The Plaza anytime between now and September 8th and you’ll be sure to be entertained, but the official Fiesta Weekend has a constant stream of events. Enjoy art, music and food on The Plaza all weekend long!
Desfile de Los Niños (Pet Parade)
When: Saturday, September 7th from 9:00 am - 10:45 am
Where: Santa Fe Plaza
Free Event
Join costumed children and their pets as they parade through the streets of Santa Fe in this almost 100 year old Santa Fe tradition. The parade ends at The Plaza with awards for various categories.
